When is tommy bowe back from injury

In a tweet Bowe said he "had some incredible years but it's time to tell you - this is my last! Bowe has endured a series of injuries in recent seasons and his current shoulder problem, picked up while playing for Ulster against Leinster, will keep him sidelined for eight weeks. The Monaghan man made his competitive debut for Ulster against Connacht in April and enjoyed a spell with the Ospreys, before returning to his home province for the season. The former minor Gaelic footballer became the first man from Monaghan to play for Ireland in 80 years.

A career highlight came in the Six Nations with his superb catch-and-run try against Wales helped Ireland seal the Grand Slam. Bowe scored points in his long Ireland career while he has chalked up points in appearances for Ulster. He went on to write his name into the history books, and no one will ever forget that incredible Grand Slam try against Wales in when he just seemed to get faster and faster when heading for the try line. He is an inspirational player on and off the pitch and who will be sadly missed when he hangs the boots up at the end of the season.

A great reader of the game and always a delight to watch. He was a very popular player at the Ospreys and considered an honorary Welshman.

All the best for your post-playing career, Tommy. Comment posted by U, at 16 Jan U A great player. I wish him well! Good luck in your retirement, Tommy. Bowe's unlucky streak with injury became almost absurd Friday night in Cardiff. Brought on in the 80th minute just after the Jamie Roberts try had been converted and the loss to Wales was confirmed, Bowe suffered a serious-looking injury to his left leg within thirty seconds of being on the field, after being tackled by Jamie Roberts and Luke Charteris.

This is the fifth major injury Bowe has suffered in five seasons. Even if you were the most superstitious man in the world regarding injury, you'd probably feel confident that you could last 60 seconds in a test match without getting hurt. Bowe seemed amused and bewildered as the stretcher took him off the pitch. Thanks so much for all the messages and support. Surely I've broken a record for shortest time on the pitch?! This afternoon it was confirmed that Bowe has a probable leg fracture, an injury that will probably end his season and possibly his great Ireland career.

Squad Update: TommyBowe14 suspected fracture, will see specialist. Sexton passed HIA and concussion ruled out. Search Search.

Menu Sections. Ulster and Ireland star Tommy Bowe is set for eight weeks on the sidelines after suffering a sternum injury in the weekend defeat to Leinster. B owe is second on the list of Ireland's top tryscorer's behind Brian O'Driscoll but the likelihood that he will add to his tally of 30 touchdowns is looking increasingly remote.

That's a shame for him. The Monaghan native has been dogged by injury in recent years and has slipped down Joe Schmidt's pecking order for Ireland due to the emergence of highly talented backs over the past few seasons. Bowe's latest injury woe leaves the year-old with a stiff task in playing himself into contention for the three-Test trip to Australia in the summer when he returns to action.
